John Wesley We are a part of the one universal church and share a common belief with Christians of different traditions. The founder of Methodism, John Wesley said “if your heart is as my heart, if you love God and above all mankind, I ask no more, give me your hand”. Methodism has been described as the friend of all and the enemy of none.

We believe that there is a God of love at the heart of the universe and that there are three aspects of the nature of God - supreme being and Father; the man Jesus Christ who is God’s Son and the perfect declaration of the character of God; and the Spirit, which is the energy and loving purpose of God at work in the world.

In our worship we like to sing because Methodism was born in song.

We believe that through faith in Jesus Christ we are offered salvation and wholeness which is available John Wesleyto all people and that this is a gift and cannot be earned by our own actions.

We believe that the Bible is an irreplaceable part of our faith heritage and that the Scriptures offer deep wisdom and precious principles and insights that are as applicable and necessary now as they were centuries ago. The Scriptures are especially important because they contain virtually the only near-contemporary set of documents recording the life and teachings of Jesus. We believe that the Bible offers us the supreme rule for our faith and practice and leads us to a scriptural holiness which is seen in our concern for the world and all its people.

We insist on the importance of community and acting together as a 'connexion'; an insistence that lay people matter, and that church life should demonstrate the social justice Methodists seek for their communities and the world.
